Sangeetha is Founding Editor of Inside43, a magazine that celebreates the beautyful district of the Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu, India. The magazine covers all aspects of life in the region from business to culture, education to nature. The magazine is published quarterly and is available in print and online at inside43.in.
The Nilgiris has seen unprecedented change in the last twenty years. From new residents to a flood of new houses, NGOS, eateries and creative initiatives, these hills are no longer just home to bison, bears, the long-standing tribes, residents, and quaint old shops that were nestled into the undulating folds of this magnificent district.
A host of organisations, authors, businesspeople, artists and celebrities from all walks of life have made their way here to enjoy the cooler climates and the stunning vistas afforded at every turn on the winding roads that connect up this special place. And with all this comes a thriving economy that has a lot to offer residents and tourists alike. And there’s plenty to talk about, and we don’t mean just local, small-town gossip.
Every city or district worth its salt has its own publication and it seemed a shame that an exciting, historically diverse place like the Nilgiris did not have its own media representation. Media43 was launched in August 2023 to change all that by producing and publishing a high-end, glossy print and online publication that showcases the Nilgiris as it deserves to be showcased. It promotes the district in all its richness of scope, encapsulating life and living as it happens, in its unique and endearing way, for residents and visitors to this beautiful Shola-filled slice of heaven.
INSIDE43 is a 96 page, 280mm x 210mm, perfect bound, full-colour, glossy, lifestyle, culture and history magazine designed with a pictorial slant in mind, featuring the many aspects of this place. From artists and musicians, to historical aspects (did you know the district boasts cave paintings from a pre-historic era?), to the many interesting personalities that live here, to the wealth of talent and creativity it nurtures within its welcoming arms.
The magazine is a community-driven initiative with a publishing / editorial team that has run global, award-nominated magazines, and professionals who have contributed to the betterment of the district in their own special ways. From editing to design to tech to photography to distribution, we have volunteers from the district who are contributing their time and talent to bring the magazine to fruition.
1500 copies of the magazine are printed each issue and sees four issues printed each year.
